At ScopeX 2016, the guys from House4Hack showed off a huge array of projects they tackle using Arduino, Raspberry pi, ESP8266, etc. These include controlling an astronomical telescope using optical tracking, a WiFi Broadcasting system for realtime HD video streaming and telescope remote control using a hacked WiFi dongle. Their self developed interface can also control a 3D-printer they developed themselves. They also developed a long range radio link to extend the range of FPV video goggles to more than 20km range. They fly lots of home built gliders for which they developed their own cheap radio control system. Matching this they developed their own training simulator. Finally they showed off a remote controlled car, fitted with a camera and goggles, driven by a games steering wheel and pedals. Information on short courses they offer to get you up to speed with Arduino, Raspberry pi and ESP8266 is also given.
