In this video, Maxx discusses the Fear Of Missing Out (FOMO). It's a very real thing in life, but also very much at larp. If you play a larp where this doesn't exist or is very minimal, that is fantastic and your game is run well. But I've been to many games in my day, where this is not addressed well, and whether it's a fundamental flaw in the game system or just the pacing, if you want to have a more enjoyable experience, this is something you should try to overcome.
I give some suggestions in this video on how to beat FOMO at larp, but you are the one who has to do it. It's not easy, but if you start with small steps, I think you'll eventually get to a point where it's balanced.
Let me know if you deal with this at your larp and how you deal with it in the comments below. Other helpful suggestions are also always welcome! If you play a game that handles this well, so that people are included and feel comfortable saying no to things, let me know how that game is run to offset this feeling.
Adventure On!
