Our society is totally stratified by IQ.
This is one of the causes of a lot of our societal strife going on right now because we live in completely different worlds, in a way that when we were a much more agrarian society, you had a bigger mixture.
IQ didn't take you that much further, when what needed to happen was the rows of crops needed to be hoed.
However,
The benefit that accrues to a high IQ is allowed by hiding how reality actually works. If we structured things slightly differently, it wouldn't shake out that way.
Sure, you can do intellectual tasks, but the ability to make things change in the physical world is, in the end, much more important. We just take that for granted. We're just fine driving our cars around doing whatever.
But if there were roving gun battles happening in the streets or some kind of conflict going on, it doesn't matter what your IQ is; it matters how fast you are getting out of the way and seeing something coming.
