Slovenia ended up being our favourite country and for good reason. It had endless beauty and its capital city, Ljubljana, is no exception. Ljubljana's city mascot is a dragon and we found them everywhere. It was so cool!
Slovenia is a highly religious country and it showed in the Cathedral of Saint Nicholas. The Slovene Door created by Tone Demšar depicts its country's history.
We took a very long and steep hike up to the castle at the top of a mountain and got an amazing view. I was a bit disappointed that the castle was so completely remodelled. It seems like they removed so much of its history by commercializing it so much.
We stayed in the coolest hostel ever; Hostel Celica. It was once a military prison, but has since been remodelled by local artists using recycled items due to a low budget. The first night we stayed in a shared dorm in the attic, but the second night we stayed in our own private cell!
Another night we stayed in one of the city's college dorms. During the summer it's not being used, so they turn it into a cheap hostel.
