A short video with the extra footage that I thought was a bit too mature to include in our full Amsterdam video. It includes video from around the Red Light District.
It was fascinating to me that the Old Church (Yes. That's the actual name) was directly in the middle of the District. They ignored all of the prostitution in the area because they profited off of it. They began selling Indulgences (little pieces of paper you can buy to absolve you of your sins so you're guaranteed to go to heaven). Mainly to the sailors (who were highly superstitious) before returning out to sea. They even began selling them BEFORE you would sin so it was easier for the sailors to get an early start after a night of drunken sinning!
Established in the 1970's, the Bulldog is Amsterdam's first and oldest "coffeeshop" and due to it's incredible store front mural is arguably its most famous.
There were also a bunch of Sex Shops, but I would've had to blur out all of the footage so I didn't film anything. Haha
