The Ascension of Jesus marks the completion of His journey of salvation for humanity. Before the Transfiguration, He lived the perfect human life, but from that moment forward, His path through Gethsemane, the Cross, and the Resurrection became uniquely vicarious. Through the Cross, the door to God’s life was opened to all; through His Resurrection, eternal life was granted to humanity; and through the Ascension, Jesus ensures that access to God remains open. He returned to the Father as both Son of God and Son of Man, reigning with full authority as King of kings, giving us direct access to God’s throne.
