If you are new to the world of the Osprey then this video is the perfect visual example of what makes these birds the best at what they do and while the act of carefully falling out of the sky, plunging talon first into a foreign underwater world, vanishing below the surface while blindly grabbing for a fish that was seen mere seconds ago seems completely insane. This astonishing feat is done multiple times daily over and over again. Personally, this bird’s undeniable quest for living has helped me sort through my own drama more times than I can count. Ospreys never stop trying regardless of any obstacle that lies before them. Oh, and that fish?!? That’s a Gafftopsail catfish aptly named for its long gaff shaped dorsal fin. That fin packs a seriously powerful venom that can make your day “slightly unpleasant.” One tiny poke from that thing just might land you in medical care with a nasty bacterial infection but the Osprey manages to handle the gafftop like an old crusty salt who has fished the seas longer than he’s been on land.
