The ogham script first appears in stones in southwestern Ireland around the 4th century AD. Yet the truth is that its origins are far older than it's first attested use. The origins of the script are traced using archaeology and etymology which reveals something truly remarkable. Ogham is one of Europe's oldest native scripts.
