XeSS can be injected into games in place of DLSS using a tool called Optiscaler, thereby allowing any GPU to enable DLSS in the game menus by faking it using XeSS. On top of this, it also allows any GPU to enable frame generation by using FSR 3's frame generation, even injecting it into games that don't have it built in using the built in DLSS inputs. This includes AMD GPUs, GTX graphics cards, and Intel Arc having access to XeSS in any game that supports DLSS. I use XeSS upscaling on my GTX 1080 Ti to get new titles to run at 60fps with high/medium settings at 1440p, and it works great.
In this video I show you how to install Optiscaler in Jedi Survivor after the patch 9 update, which removed Denuvo DRM and replaced it Easy Anti-Cheat, which prevented the dxgi.dll injection method from working as it did before.

I also show how to install it in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and also do comparisons between the built in FSR 3 frame generation in flight sim versus Optiscaler's FSR 3.1 frame generation injection running with XeSS. The Optiscaler injection had much better frame pacing for my GPU, at least while I'm also recording with OBS.
There are some good videos on the same topic by other YouTubers like @danielowentech recent video, or @AncientGameplays showing it working on AMD GPUs, and even showing how to use it with FSR 4.

I've previously referred to Optiscaler as "DLSS Enabler" mostly, primarily because that's how I first found Optiscaler, and because DLSS Enabler provided a nice GUI installation. It seems that it's pretty easy to install Optiscaler manually, and it even comes with it's own .bat file installer if that is easier for you.
As someone who until recently watched every @DigitalFoundry video religiously, I hope this finds that audience and can help show people the echo chamber that is the tech reviewer space. I've learned so much from DF Alex and his videos, but the Nvidia boot licking and the unwavering "just upgrade" mentality became too much for me to bear listening to every podcast.
