This is Operation Sand Trap.
In partnership with Jacksonville Beach Police, our Vice Unit targeted those who use online sites to solicit or offer prostitution. Set up in beach-area hotels, our officers chatted with people online who were looking to pay for sexual acts. Together, we arrested 25 people over the course of just three days. Operations like this lower the demand.
Where that demand exists, also comes human trafficking. During our operation, we identified two survivors of human trafficking and connected them with resources to help.
We’ll continue to work with our partners across the state to conduct operations like this to eliminate human trafficking.
