In this video i used a Reolink camera that supports ONVIF and was able to adopt in into UniFi Protect. make sure, if you are planning to use 3rd party cameras in UniFi Protect to purchase cameras that support the ONVIF protocol. ONVIF Cameras in UniFi Protect will require this. also, you will need to enable this feature inside UniFi Protect, this is shown in the video.
