Onimusha 2 is the sequel to Onimusha Warlords. This time, we have 5 playable characters. All the characters have their own story with Jubei, who is the protagonist of the game. If you want to see the story with one of the 4 characters in the game, you have to complete the game at least 4 times.

In addition to the story, each character has their own skills, personalities and personal tastes, which makes the stories unique with each character

A brief description of the characters and their origins

Jūbei Yagyū is the main hero of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny. As the first leader of the Yagyū clan seen in the series and originator of Shin-in style sword combat, he was born as Sougen but later given the name Jūbei as a child, a tradition which would continue as seen with his granddaughter. His father was the late Head of the Yagyū clan, who was seduced and had a child by a woman who disappeared shortly thereafter. Jūbei never knew his mother.

Oyu (Oichi) of Odani was the sister of the infamous Nobunaga Oda, and the wife of Nagamasa Azai until the latter's death.

Historically, she never met Jūbei Yagyū, but she did join in the fight against her overlord brother with her husband - Azai Nagamasa rather than Jūbei, but she was allowed to escape Odani Castle with her three daughters before his death. She would marry Katsuie Shibata in 1582 following the death of her brother, but upon his defeat a year later, she would choose to die with him rather than escape and seek the protection of Hideyoshi Toyotomi.

Ekei Ankokuji (安國寺 惠瓊 Ankokuji Ekei) is a master spear fighter in the Houzouin style. He is a monk who loves money, liquor and the company of beautiful women. Before entering monk hood, he once served a warlord who lost a terrible battle against Nobunaga.

Kotarō Fūma (風魔 小太郎, Fūma Kotarō) is the young Chief of the Fūma Ninja Clan, who is in service to the Hōjō Clan. He confounds his opponent with his agile movement and countless Ninjutsu.

Magoichi Saiga, a marksman for the Saiga clan, is an aloof warrior with a great love for war and battle. He is also a book enthusiast and enjoys researching a variety of subjects. Despite his cold exterior, he is an honorable and loyal comrade, as can be seen when Jūbei Yagyū was petrified by Tokichiro and Magoichi fearlessly fought a horde of demons to save him.

Underneath his passion for battle, he truly wishes that Japan could live in a time of peace. He fights with a traditional Matchlock rifle and can attack many enemies from long-range. Magoichi has a petty rivalry with the spearman Ekei Ankokuji‎ and the two are often found quarreling, but deep down they share an untold respect for one another.
