It has been a heartbreaking week in Lansing, unlike anything we’ve ever experienced as a community.
Monday afternoon, July 27, an EF-1 tornado roared through Lansing, Illinois.
The Lansing Journal was there. And Publisher Melanie Jongsma describes what she saw — on the day of the destruction, and in the week that followed.
From heartbreaking to heartwarming, to heartfelt thanks for being able to serve because of hundreds of people who invested in local journalism before Lansing needed it most.
The community has been using the hashtag #Lansing Strong to try and capture the moment and encourage each other. Melanie shares what she learned from seeing #LansingStrong in action.
