This is my video response to Magnus Andersson's challenge to see who can do a one stick fire the fastest.
I hate to admit it but I got my ass soundly handed to me!! No tube of mystery Swedish delicacy for me!
I will say that this is the fastest one stick fire I have made to date.
Lessons learned: clear your work space of debris (leaves!) before starting. I lost half of my tinder in the leaves. Second, don't use a rock to baton and make tinder on!! It's hard on the knuckles and the knife edge. I lost a LOT of time with the tinder processing. If I had had it on my computer I think I would have used the Benny Hill soundtrack for this video.
Sorry for all the background noise. It was a beautiful place to spend the morning but the noise from the stream was a bit overwhelming for my little camera.
As far as I can tell my time to a stable fire was just about 15 minutes flat. Bush league stuff compared to Magnus's almost 5 minutes. Hopefully of the other USA participants will come through and restore some pride to the good ol' USA!
