A short time ago Justin over at the Grierwolf channel challenged us to get out of our comfort zone and start a fire with limited resources. I chose today to hike up to the top of the mountain to an area where resources are sparse to try to start a fire with only one strike of the ferro rod. I challenged myself to use only the frozen red oak that was prevalent in the area.

I used a Boker Vox Rold for the majority of the wood preparation.
I used my Gerber Prodigy for speed up the making of tinder from the split oak logs.
My ferro rod was a Light My Fire Army 2.0
