Buford Pusser was sheriff of McNairy County, TN. His service and tragic death was immortalized in the making of two major motion pictures. I remember seeing the movies when they first came out and it was a shocking experience to see such a dedicated policeman such as him met his fate trying to enforce the law. It makes on know just how dangerous this job is and how much these heroes need to be remembered.
I watched the first movie "Walking Tall" from the tailgate of a pickup truck at an outdoor drive in located in Pigeon Forge, TN. For a while a local man ran a small police museum there and had many items related to Pusser. For many years I wandered what ever happened to all of the memorabilia after the place closed up....at least until yesterday September 8, 2016, I just happened to run into this man and his memorial to the late Sheriff. He is a friend of the family and has some great stories to tell, and best of all he has this McNairy County Sherrif's squad car and Buford's original "stick" that he has been showing to the public at car shows around the country. It made my day !
