Mr. C.L. Kanipe is a nephew of Sgt. Daniel A. Kanipe, Company C, 7th US Cavalry, survivor of the Battle of The Little Bighorn in 1876. I was very fortunate to interview him at his home and hear his story first hand of his visit to his famous uncle around 1925. He affectionately refers to Sgt. Kanipe as Uncle Dan. This was fascinating to me to be able to sit and talk with someone who personally remembers Sgt. Kanipe while he was still alive.
