how I wire up two cameras to one microphone so that I can get two angles with the same audio. you can also turn the manual recording volume down in one camera and use that as a safety track. if you wanted you could add another microphone to both cameras and split the audio tracks. so that one mic is on the left track and the other is on the right track. this allows you to have a safety track and in post you take the left or right mono track and make it stero for your video.
to get this all wired up I used all 3.5mm male and female stereo jacks aside from the stereo to left and right mono jack. from the microphone a 10ft (trsf/ trsm)cable then the stereo Y splitter (trsm/2xtrsf) from the spitter a 10ft (trsf/ trsm) to one camera and from the same splitter a 10ft (trsm/ trsm) or 10ft (trsm/ trsf) and a short (trsm/trsm) if you are going to use a smart phone you will need a (trrsm/trsf) to connect a mic. there are a few ways you could wire this up depending on what cables you use. plan it out and get what you need to get the job done. I like using a few10ft (trsf/trsm) cables and some short connectors just in case I need to put a few 10ft cables together to get a long reach out of my wired connection but is your call how you want to wire it up.
