I first became aware of Israeli band Vermintide in the '10 Must-Listen Grindcore Albums' article by Invisible Oranges, in which they shared the list with Forcefed Horsehead. IO commented of this album, that it 'is a blunt instrument, but one that eviscerates environmental destruction, religion and warfare with admirable and abrasive glee'. There are hints of Birdflesh, Insect Warfare, Devourment, Circle Of Dead Children, Foetal Juice, plus old school groovy grind mixed with something of the newer dissonant slam death (the gritty, filthy kind we love here, rather than overly polished and clinical). Throw in Napalm Death and Magrudergrind covers, and you have 15 minutes that should see you coming back for repeated listens.
If you like blasts, warped short breakdowns and want your mosh to tackle some issues as well as something you can have a fast dance to, then Vermintide are absolutely for you!

Originally released on March 3rd, 2023: 'Ashamed Of My Species' continues the band's experimentation of blending Grindcore with Slamming Brutal Death metal as well as the expression of Andrey's inner self in the lyrics (songs about religions, human and animal abuse, environmental crisis and more).
