Presidents Day is celebrated on the third Monday in February each year, and the official federal holiday name is Washington’s Birthday. Our first U.S. President was born on February 22, 1732 in Westmoreland County, Virginia. His later home of Mount Vernon is located 15 miles from Washington, D.C. and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1960.
On July 11, 1961, the first State Dinner at Mount Vernon since George Washington’s time was hosted by President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy. The dinner was held in honor of Muhammad Ayub Khan, President of Pakistan. This video clip is from motion picture footage from the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum of the event. jfklibrary.org/asset-viewer/archives/usg-01-e
