Archivist of the United States Dr. Colleen Shogan held a ceremonial ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new state-of-the-art digitization center at the National Archives at College Park on April 12, 2024. Speakers included Senator Chris Van Hollen, Representative Steny Hoyer, and Representative Glenn Ivey. Speakers, guests, and National Archives employees enjoyed a demonstration of the new digitization machines that will enable the National Archives to digitize records ten times faster than before. The National Archives prioritizes digitization of its archival records as a strategic goal so that the records it holds in trust for the American people can be accessed by anyone, anytime.
