We’re grateful to welcome back Bob. It’s always a pleasure to talk to him especially now that he’s on the homestretch of his career.
Every time he wrote a book it was with the intent of solving a problem. Seeing a lot of one trick ponies. Coaches that seemed to only have one tool in the toolbox. For instance, submitting a client to death by a thousand questions. Serve the client by meeting them where they are. Understand that it’s a deep and broad profession to grow into.
Maintenance and self-care. Be sure to apply to yourself the same things you’re coaching to others. You are a role model for others. The things Bob has added in his life like walking in nature, meditation, scented candles. Small things that helps him recharge and destress.
Bubolz shares a bit about his experience coaching third graders in basketball. The approach isn’t any different. Understanding where the team members are at with their skill level and adjusting your style to match.
The new book Extraordinary Badass Agile Coaching. Sounds pretty legit! But what’s in it for Product Managers? Or anyone who may not consider, or want to be, an Agile coach? There’s a good chance that you’re having coaching conversations all the time and don’t realize it. Meta skills are a powerful tool for Product Managers as well. Product Managers, Scrum Masters, and Leaders really need to sharpen their coaching skills.
Lots of conversation on the power of pairing. This is a topic that both the Jeffs are passionate about as well. When you need to put your best foot forward you should pair. When you need diverse ideas, you should pair. When you’re tackling complex issues, you should pair. There are so many great reasons to pair!
