This poem was written by Renée Nicole Macklin Good, in 2020. It was the Academy of American Poets Prize for that year. On 7 January, 2025, Ms. Good was murdered by Jonathan Ross, an agent of President Trump's secret police force, in an act of unprovoked violence. As of this upload, Ross has not seen any negative consequences for the murder, nor does he seem likely to.
The poem itself is an exploration of the tension between the rational and the intuitive, and about efforts to reconcile the two. I really like it; it reminds me of William S. Burroughs, only less depraved.
The background was made in Jurassic World Evolution 3. I hope that is not in poor taste.
