11:18 III. Allegro moderato, poco a poco più mosso
Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Moscow State Philharmonic, cond. Fedor Glushchenko
Oleg Eiges (Олег Эйгес, 1905-1992) was a Russian composer, pianist, and teacher. For more on Eiges, see my score video of his twelfth symphony: youtube.com/watch?v=Eb7uars_N2I
To my ears, Eiges' fifteenth symphony of 1980, while stylistically similar to his twelfth, is a bit more enigmatic. Dedicated to the conductor Fedor Glushchenko, it reminds me in various places of Baltic symphonists who were near-exact contemporaries of Eiges, such as Eduard Tubin and (in his later works) Jānis Ivanovs.
