Hot take: I prefer the newer one.
Yes it's aesthetically ugly and the horn leaves something to be desired, but it's actually something that can go fast and if we actually worked at improving the tracks and pantograph, especially between New York and DC, this would actually be something to contend with on a worldwide scope.
