The City of Georgetown, Penang, named one of the top cities to retire abroad in 2013 by U.S. media, is known for its ancient, tropical ambiance and laid-back pace of living. Two-to-three-story wooden houses built in different times during the western colonial era stand in exotic colors. While windows may be cracked and paints peeled off with time, age only adds pride to the antique houses. Where buildings are too old, they are torn down, and the old tiles, blurred glasses and oxidized wooden pieces are recycled by those who care to revive the ancient elegance. The video features some of the enthusiasts of the recycled materials in the city, extending the lens to the suburbs of the island where the recycled timber is processed and reused.
