Most oils used as lubricants are NON-Conductive fluids, which will accumulate the static charge they generate as they flow/move. This video is showing why we do NOT "splash fill" non-conductive flammable liquids. The oils usually have a higher Flash Point, and thus, there is NOT a flammable atmosphere inside this vessel; however, had there been a flammable liquid with a lower flash point, the static discharges shown in this video would most likely have been enough to ignite the flammable vapors. Most flammable liquids will have an MIE less 1 mJ.
