Columbus Police said a girl under the age of 10 is in critical condition at Nationwide Children’s Hospital after being shot in Weinland Park.
It happened just after 3pm Sunday afternoon in a home near North 6th street.
Sergeant Joe Albert was at the scene and said investigators are working to figure out if the child accidentally shot herself or if someone else did.
“Whether or not she actually shot herself or she was shot, it is uncalled for, regardless. All right. If she accidentally shot herself, the question is how she got access to a firearm," said Albert.
Sergeant Albert said a boy under the age of 18 ran from the home.
