In this video I will discuss what elements you can try to make a good opening line of your novel. Opening lines set the stage for what your story will be about. It is what initially draws the reader in, wanting more, from the very first sentence. I provide examples of various opening lines from famous and not so well known authors and books first sentences, in hopes to give you a better idea of what makes a good hook for catching those readers attention. Opening lines can often make or break a book. Here I give my opinion on books with good opening lines that propose a question in the readers minds...and keep them reading to get the answer.
