Part 2/3 of a soundscape for 8 speakers and two subwoofers (here in a binaural version) that played in the Leuven City Hall. The theme of the event was "Cosmic Listening Experience". Part 2 is the most "experimental" of the three soundscape parts. It is minimal music in which a duet between a flute and a piano slowly but surely turns into a (literal) conversation between the flute and the piano. Listen to the end to experience the magic :) Some years ago, I was stunned by a "speaking piano" created by composer Peter Ablinger. To make this piece possible I created my own version of the "speaking piano" effect using the python programming language to analyze recordings with STFT, map the frequency bins to notes and volumes and then send these notes as midi information to the Integra-7 synthesizer. The "bubbly" sounds in the background are generated on my prophet rev2 analog synthesizer using a "generative" patch.
