Mud Pluggers tackle some tough terrain in The Wicklow Hills.
The Leinster Motor Club organised a mudplugging event where specialized custom built off road vehicles compete in trials over a course of boggy and rocky terrain.
For a former motorcyclist and scrambler Morgan Evans cost was an attraction to becoming a mud plugger. He built his own vehicle using an engine from a vintage Volkswagen,
1958 I think, so it's definitely old.
At the course in Brittas County Wicklow drivers are put to the test on a course marked out on a stretch of rough land which is,
Boulder-strewn and gets muddier as the day goes on.
Enthusiasts for the sport have experience navigating all types of courses. Their sturdy vehicles are built to withstand whatever is thrown at them. Secretary of Leinster Motor Club Gordon Lennox offers some commentary on one contestants efforts.
