UChicago student Emily Jungmin Yoon reads alongside Roger Reeves. Yoon's poems and translations appear or are forthcoming in The New Yorker, POETRY, Southern Humanities Review, OmniVerse, and elsewhere. She has received awards and fellowships from Ploughshares' Emerging Writer's Contest, AWP's WC&C Scholarship Competition, The Home School in Miami, and New York University. She works as the Poetry Editor for The Margins, the literary magazine of the Asian American Writers' Workshop, and is a PhD student in the East Asian Languages and Civilizations Department at the University of Chicago.
The Offen Poetry Prize is awarded to an established Chicago poet who then selects a UChicago student to read his or her work. Roger Reeves selected Yoon for her inventive ability to deal with both the political and the artistic.
Presented by the Committee on Creative Writing and the Offen Poetry Prize.
