hello all! i'm back with a new-ish idea for a MEP, hopefully it takes off and the MEP does successful!
THEME:
~the general theme for this MEP is, well, old style crossovers. if you're confused, i'm talking about stuff from like 2009-2010. i will link specific examples below:

that should be all for examples, but feel free to use your own favorite old style mashes and crossovers as inspiration!
~the reason i'm doing this kind of MEP is bc i'm honestly sick of crossovers today. the overused maskings, the live action backgrounds, & the abundance of PMVs. there's nothing wrong with it, but it's done so often that crossovers are no longer interesting, and it's made me yearn for the old days, where people were imaginative, creative and used chroma keyer more often than not to creative somewhat messy but convincing manips. i wanna see some of that here. please don't just make a modern looking crossover for this & call it a day, i wanna feel nostalgia, like i'm watching old mashes for the first time in 2013.
~i'm not saying you have to make your part look MESSY, i still want it to be mostly clean and definitely full of effort, i'm not saying be lazy. just put yourself in the mindset of a crossover editor in 2009 & utilize effects most people don't these days, like chroma key, cookie cutter, etc. masks are allowed, just not the same masks i see all the time. manips are also encouraged!!
~as for live action backgrounds, i'd prefer nobody use them for this MEP. i know that's difficult as the song is "ocean avenue" so it makes people wanna use beaches, but i would like to see more regular animash scenes and backgrounds taken advantage of. while people did neat stuff with their crossovers back in 2009, they didn't just cut out characters and paste them in the city, so i don't wanna see modern trends like that in this MEP. i'd love some tropical/beach themed overlays and colors though!
~ ask for the top 3 parts you want when choosing a part
~ tell me which pairing you'd like to use in your part
~ all types of pairings (mxm, fxm, fxf) are allowed but of course nothing with an obvious age difference between characters and if it's a pairing that would canonically be incest, then you must make it an AU
~ i'd like no more than 3 characters repeats, and no pairing repeats. if a certain pairing has already been taken, you can still use one of those characters but in another pairing. characters that can't be used anymore will be listed below. using minor characters is encouraged! i'd love to see some of the sled dogs from balto or francis from felidae, etc.
~ for effects, just go with stuff you'd see in old style crossover videos. rainbow colors (nothing too crazy) would be cool to see. cookie cutters, bump map, b&w, pan crop, transitions, color corrector (blues, purples, reds, oranges & yellows would be nice for this) are generally what i'm looking for but you can def experiment
~ leave a second at the end of your part so that i can transition the parts, NO BLACK
~ if you're going to use lyrics, please use the right ones, no typos
~ please send me your part in either .wmv or .mp4. files such as .avi and .mov are a HUGE pain cuz i have to convert them so please be considerate. also please send your part in 720p quality or higher, just cuz this is an old style MEP doesn't mean i want the parts to be bad quality. full screen is also a must
~ i might ask you to change something about your part, only if i feel that something about it doesn't quite mash with the others. i'll try not to be too much of a nightmare host
~ answer ALL reminders. do not go missing without turning in your part, i'll replace you. this MEP WILL be finished. stay in contact.
~ that's about it for the rules. i know they're kinda all over the place, and the theme is kinda complicated, so if you read everything carefully, put "waves" in your comment.
