Barack Obama reminded everyone why he still might be the coolest president we’ve had, delivering an effortless courtside moment at Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game.
Seated with Michelle at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood for the 75th NBA All-Star Game, Obama suddenly found himself in the middle of the action when a loose ball came flying toward the sideline. Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokić and Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker were sprinting after it as it hurtled directly toward the former president.
Without flinching, Obama calmly reached out and snagged the basketball cleanly out of midair. No panic. No ducking. Just reflexes. He casually flipped it back as announcers laughed that he should’ve stood up and drained a three like he has in past appearances.
Obama, who famously added hoops to the White House tennis court during his presidency, has always been a serious basketball fan. Sunday just proved he can still handle a fast break — even from the front row.
