My goal is to be able to propagate hundreds of Oakleaf hydrangea plants at a time to grow and sell. I have other methods that have allowed me to quickly make new and pretty big plants from well-established hydrangea bushes, but tip stem cuttings can be taken in large numbers while the plants are actively growing. This is the first time I've used this method so we will see how I do!! I love oakleaf hydrangea and expect the day will come when I master this technique. I've read from internet sources: don't use tip stem cuttings from branches that are flowering or have already done so. After making my first tray of 50 tip stem cuttings, I wonder if many of mine should have been longer. I suspect they will mostly root and grow but we shall see!!
