Felix Forde, playing the role of Juliet, Ashley Byam as Mercutio, and Mariéme Diouf portraying The Friar join students in performing in spoken and British Sign Language an excerpt from the famous balcony scene in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. In this scene, Juliet speaks a confession of love to herself and the stars... and to Romeo himself!
This speech was created as a teaching resource and a celebration of the fast-paced, 90-minute version of Romeo and Juliet is created especially for young people and is the perfect introduction to Shakespeare for everyone.
The Globe’s Director of Education Lucy Cuthbertson (2023 Olivier Award-nominated Midsummer Mechanicals) directs Shakespeare’s timeless story of a broken society’s impact on young lives.
