Text:
Note: There is more than one way to write Old Mercian because languages of this time were not standardized, and this is something that I composed and not a text from the period.

Ēalā, Merkiske menn, Ƿer and Ƿīf
For Merkena ƿuldure, Merkena ƿundure,
Stondaþ ġē for ūssum þīode.
Ūsse land and līode þæt is Merkena land.
Þæt land is ūsse cȳþ, eard, and œ̄þel
ġē earun Ængla suna, Ængla dohtur,
Ænglan from Ġermænium,
Þenċeæþ ġē ūssa ǣrrena hæleþa
suē suē Æþelflēd mēre dēde dyde.
Ēoƿeru ældran sīen ƿlænce.
Biþ ēower ġehƿælc micel
Ġē ǣr Merce wērun, Ġē nū Merce earun, and ġe æfter Merce bīoþ!
Hāl ƿes þū, Mercena land!

O Mercian people, man and woman,
For Mercia's glory, Mercia's wonder,
Stand for our nation.
Our land and people that is Mercia.
That land is our country, dwelling, and home.
You are the sons and daughters
of the Angles from Germania.
Your ancestors be proud.
Each of you will be great.
Think of our past heroes
such as Æþelfl̈ed did famous deeds.
You before were Mercians, you now are Mercians,
and you after will be Mercians!
Hail, Mercia!
