Today in #NYCSounds: Coney Island’s Friday Night Fireworks. This is 33 seconds of Friday night’s minute-long finale.
You should know: Every Friday night throughout the summer, the Alliance for Coney Island hosts a fireworks show, weather-permitting. Viewable from the Coney Island amusement parks, boardwalk, and beach, the show is free to watch and a fun excursion for families. The fireworks blast off at 9:45pm each of the nights.
NOTE: The show pictured here from Sept. 4 was the last of Coney’s 2026 fireworks series. In other words: No more Coney fireworks until 2027. Save this post as a reminder to go next summer.
NOTE ALSO: Coney Island amusements remain open through the end of October. After this weekend they move to a more limited fall schedule; check the websites of Deno’s Wonder Wheel Amusement Park and Luna Park for days + hours.
For the photo/video people out there: to get this shot, we stood on West 12th Street, a little south of Surf Avenue. The street is closed to through traffic, so you have ample room to set up and grab content.
