It’s hard to pick favorites from a highlight-filled set like Friday afternoon’s Pickin’ On Dylan shindig at Northwest String Summit’s Kinfolk Stage. The ‘house band’ was led by Colorado’s Arthur Lee Land Trio (Arthur on guitar, Will Trask on drums and Zach Jackson on bass) augmented by violinist Tim Carbone from Railroad Earth and myself on keyboards (sporting my new ice dye shirt from Tinctoria Designs, and special shout-out to Sydney Nash for bringing the real Leslie).
With each song led by members of the various festival headliners there were a lot of amazing moments, but this high-energy version of ‘Isis’ led by PDX icon Lewi Longmire stood out and was the first thing I searched for on my GoPro when I got home. And even though my ‘KeysCam’ has the organ too loud and the vocals too quiet, the performance was just as great as I remember it. I think anyone would agree… assuming, you know, that you LIKE legit Rock-n-Roll.
