The new week started on a rainy note and the capital area is finally seeing a break from the heavy rain, with mostly cloudy skies. While central areas warm up by 1 to 5 degrees Celsius, the heat continues in the southern regions with a heatwave advisory remaining in place.
And the humidity will stay high with a chance of passing rain of 5 to 60 millimeters in the forecast, some could become quite heavy, with rainfall rates around 20 millimeters per hour, along with thunderstorms and strong winds.
And this afternoon, Seoul will get up to 29 degrees Celsius, about 5 degrees higher than yesterday, Busan will reach 31 degrees. Daegu and Gwangju top out at 32 degrees.
From tomorrow, easterly winds will bring more frequent rain to the east coast. And by the end of the week, mornings and evenings should gradually feel more like autumn.

Korean musicals are celebrating their 60th anniversary this year. Over the past six decades, the Korean musical industry has grown rapidly and is now expanding beyond Korea to stages in Broadway and the West End. Today, we’ll take a look at how far K-musicals have come and where they are headed next with our culture critic Professor Chie Hye-won at Kyung Hee University. Welcome back, Professor Chie!
Q1. 60 years of Korean musicals! Where did Korean original musicals begin, and what major productions helped shape the industry as it grew?
Q2. Last year, Maybe Happy Ending won six Tony Awards. What kind of turning point was this achievement for Korean musicals?
Q3. Ivy, who we know as a K-pop star who debuted more than 20 years ago, is currently performing as Roxie in Chicago on Broadway, becoming the first Korean musical actress to take on a leading role in a Broadway musical. What does this milestone mean?
Q4. Ivy had played Roxie in Korea for many years developing her own interpretation of the character along the way.
What do you see as the strengths and competitive edge of Korean musical actors on the global stage?
Q5. Korea’s production capabilities have also come a long way. How has the system for developing and creating original musicals changed over the years?
Q6. Productions such as Marie Curie and Swag Age: Shout Out, Joseon! have also found success overseas.
Would you say K-musicals are now entering a new phase of global expansion?
Q7. Finally, what Korean musicals should international audiences keep an eye on as the next potential global hits?
