In the June 9th webinar we talked about boxtree moth and the strong possibility that it might show up in NJ very soon. Today, June 10th, boxtree moth was confirmed in Cape May County, NJ. THE LABEL IS THE LAW This document is not intended for homeowners. Recommendations and considerations given herein are designed tobe specific to the state of New Jersey, even though it may be broadly applicable across multiple geographic areas. A pesticide applicator is legallybound by the labeling found on and with the pesticide container in their possession. Before using a pesticide, check and always follow the labeling distributed with the product at the point of sale for legally enforceable rates and restrictions. This document is intended to facilitate decision-makingand provide a visual reference for practitioners when scouting for ornamental pests. This document is not a substitute for pesticide labeling. This document is not a substitute for pest scouting and monitoring. The proper choice of pesticide is the individual private or commercial pesticideapplicator’s responsibility. It is a violation of Federal law to use any registered pesticide product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling. Read, understand, and follow the label before applying any pesticide. New Jersey notes: Private and commercial applicators must be certified AND possess a valid applicator license to make applications or supervise the use of ANY* EPA-registered pesticide (*as required NJAC 7:30; limited exemptions exist). Only certified applicators possessing a valid New Jersey applicator license may purchase restricted use pesticides (RUPs). Pursuant to NJ S1016, neonicotinoids can only be applied in agricultural settings. Commercial applications in outdoor, non-agricultural settings (i.e. landscapes) is prohibited, with no pest-specific exceptions, as of the printing of this document.
