Australian Film Institute Nominated, AFI Award: Best Screenplay, Adapted.
Placed #15 on the Variety top 50 films on its release in 1983.
The movie was filmed in widescreen, but sadly the only commercial release available on DVD is a 4x3 pan and scanned version. The cinematic scope of the film has been diminished greatly as you can see in several clips from the movie elsewhere on my YouTube playlist.
Stars Cheryl Ladd, Robert Coleby, Christine Amor, the late Carmen Duncan, Kris McQuade, Tim Burns, Aileen Britton, Rod Mullinar, Kevin Healy, Redmond Phillips and Alex Scott.
Full disclosure: Initially I was hired to edit the movie, but due to creative differences between the producers and star the director was let go two weeks into filming. I was approached to take the reins, but we still had to complete the movie within the six weeks scheduled.
Week 3 had some second unit filming done to appease the bean counters while I was brought up to speed on the production itself; meetings with heads of departments, seeing locations et al. Of the six weeks to shoot I now had only 3 weeks left to shoot... including pivotal reshoots and the entire shutdown '3rd' week. I also directed 2nd Unit simultaneously. I am pleased to say I came in, on schedule (except for 4 hours) and under budget.
I then edited the movie and had a first cut within 3 days of wrapping the film. No pressure.
