This scene didn't play well in real-time, we were vested in the characters and it was over too fast, so I experimented with optical effects. Back in the 70s we did this in the lab, no previews, all guesswork - little bit of symbolism as the deceased spirit leaves his body to 'decay' into the coffin. It was too costly for any do-overs.

![When The Chips Are Down - short film - drama
Two unlikely detectives are thrown together to solve a multiple murder case and bring a ring of child pornographers to justice.
Cast: Larry Thomas • Jodi Russell • Alice Tate
WTCAD was an official entry in the Pasadena International Film Festival.
Rosemary Marks produced and I directed and edited WTCAD which was shot over 2 x 6 hour days during the Covid lock-down, outside our house. The only other filming crew member was cinematographer Jamie Trent.
This is actually a teaser pitch for a feature film titled Blood Makes Noise [expansion of my short film Blood Makes Noise]. WTCAD is actually three scenes from the feature script combined into one sequence for the purposes of the short.
