When you think of American combat rations, a South Asian lamb dish probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. But this U.S. Military HALAL Meal Individual features a unique entrée — Jalfrezi with Lamb — definitely not what you'd expect from a standard MRE. Like the classic Meal Ready to Eat, this field ration is designed to provide a single meal to a soldier in the field. However, the HALAL kit is specially tailored for troops with religious dietary requirements. This particular example was packaged back in 2016. And while the shelf life of HALAL rations is typically shorter than that of standard MREs, this one actually held up pretty well.
