It was bright and beautiful weather here 80km south of the Arctic Circle today despite the snowfall last night so I decided to share the view from Akureyri, the Capital of North Iceland. Early in the morning, cars were getting stuck, but snowplows began their work early, despite it being a Saturday, so after 10 a.m. traffic was back to normal, although there was still a lot of work left to do to clear snow from residential streets. This tour starts in a rather old neighborhood downtown and the houses are gradually getting younger, although I am not showing the newest neighborhoods, as there was too much snow to make this into a documentary about architecture. First and foremost, this is done to show how the town wakes up after the snowfall. At this time of year, Icelanders want to get rid of the snow, but this year, despite the mild winter, March is a bit difficult. However, the sun is rising so it is quickly clearing the ice left behind by the machines
