The Strasburg Rail Road is one of the few railroads in the United States that runs steam year-round. Unlike most steam railroads, the Strasburg Rail Road operates steam regularly throughout the winter months. Operating during the winter allows for opportunities of seeing steam in the snow. On the day after a big snowstorm, Norfolk & Western 475 was fired up and pulling trains through the fresh snow-covered fields. The cold weather produced billowing plumes of steam and smoke, and the fresh snow contrasted with the deep-blue sky, allowing for dramatic scenes to be captured.

So sit back, relax, and enjoy the watching 475 rolling through the snow-covered landscapes of Lancaster County on a beautiful winter day.

This video was filmed on Monday, January 20, 2025.
