NoiseWorks VoiceAssist 1.1 brings its dialogue and vocal cleanup to any DAW, ARA or not, and adds spectral editing for surgical work. Two changes that matter for anyone cleaning up speech. Paul Maunder puts them to the test.
VoiceAssist is an ARA plugin and standalone app for dialogue and vocal cleanup and levelling, with six sections in a single interface: Clean, Lowend, Gate, Dynamics, Breath, and Sibilance. Version 1.1 adds the two features worth your attention. Transfer Mode captures audio into the plugin, analyses it, and then gives you the full processing chain, so you no longer need ARA to work directly on your track. That opens VoiceAssist up to non-ARA hosts like Ableton Live and FL Studio, and it sidesteps the Logic Pro ARA situation on Apple Silicon without falling back to Rosetta.
Spectral Editing now sits in the Clean section, above the AI model. The spectral view shows reductions in red and boosts in green, and you hover over the area you want to fix to make targeted moves. It is the kind of surgical, time-frequency work that used to mean a round-trip out to standalone restoration software, now built into the same tool. Paul walks through both on real dialogue to show where they save time and where you still reach for something else.
