This is a performance of my own arrangement of Chopin's Nocturne in C# minor for two guitars.
Frederic Chopin was a Polish pianist and composer in the Romantic Era. Every piece Chopin ever wrote includes the piano. The majority of his works were written for solo piano with only a few incorporating other instruments as well. His most notable works include his Mazurkas, Polonaises, Etudes, and of course nocturnes. The Romantic nocturne refers to a piece of music, usually for solo piano, that evokes a sense of night-time. While this particular compositional style was thought to have been created by John Field, it is Chopin who really mastered it. Nocturne in C#minor Op. 27 No. 1 is my personal favorite of all of Chopin’s nocturnes. It is one of the most haunting and yet exciting pieces of classical music that I have ever come across. Ever since I first stumbled upon this piece I had the idea that it would work nicely for two guitars. I spent some time searching for an arrangement as I was sure someone had taken it upon themselves to arrange such a magnificent piece. I eventually came to find that such an arrangement did not yet exist and I finally I decided to take it upon myself to arrange it for two guitars.
