With the more and more confusing direction of the Halo TV series, falling back on the "Silver Timeline" to explain it away... that got me wondering: Why did anyone even think a silver timeline was needed in the first place?
Let's be honest, Halo isn't anywhere near the first gaming property to make the transition to a non-interactive format and it won't be the last. Halo also isn't the first to have it's lore seen as completely optional when deciding how to make a show out of it - but why?
A lot of these problems seem to stem from an assumption that games can't tell good stories. As long as that remains the starting point, we're fated to continue to see these kinds of "adaptations" be made.
