Words and music by Klaus Meine and Rudolf Schenker

Girl, it's been a long time that we've been apart
Much too long for a man who needs love
I miss you since I've been away
Babe, it wasn't easy to leave you alone
It's getting harder each time that I go
If I had the choice, I would stay

There's no one like you
I can't wait for the nights with you
I imagine the things we do
I just want to be loved by you
No one like you
I can't wait for the nights with you
I imagine the things we do
I just want to be loved by you

Girl, there are really no words strong enough
To describe all my longing for love
I don't want my feelings restrained
Ooh, babe, I just need you like never before
Just imagine you'd come through this door
To take all my sorrow away

There's no one like you
I can't wait for the nights with you
I imagine the things we do
I just want to be loved by you
No one like you
I can't wait for the nights with you
I imagine the things we do
I just want to be loved by you

No one like you
I can't wait for the nights with you
I imagine the things we do
I just want to be loved by you
No one like you
I can't wait for the nights with you
I imagine the things we do

I just want to be loved by you

*Song Facts*

"No One Like You" is a 1982 song by German rock band Scorpions. It was written by band members Rudolf Schenker (guitar) and Klaus Meine (vocals) and released as the lead single from the band's eighth studio album Blackout (1982). The tune was produced by Dieter Dierks and it was recorded at Dierks Studios.

The song was one of three hit singles from Blackout. "No One Like You" also appeared on multiple greatest hits-type albums including: Best of Rockers 'n' Ballads, Bad for Good: The Very Best of Scorpions, and Box of Scorpions.

A video was shot for the tune in San Francisco. It features Alcatraz Island—with Klaus Meine being the recipient of capital punishment.

"No One Like You" was originally written in German and much of its meaning changed in translation.

The single reached number 65 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. It also attained the number 1 position on the US Billboard Rock Tracks chart. The track peaked at number 49 in Canada.

Scorpions released a live version as a taster for their forthcoming live album World Wide Live in 1984, along with their second hit "Big City Nights". The record's flipside also features a performance of their classic "The Zoo".

"No One Like You" was Scorpions' breakout song in America, where it hit #1 on the Mainstream Rock chart. The band is from Germany, but had tremendous success in English-speaking countries. It's something that might have to do with their unusual perspective.

In a Songfacts' interview with Scorpions guitarist Rudolf Schenker, he explained: "We had a big single with 'No One Like You' in '82. People asked us, 'Why are you guys coming from Germany, and you have this #1 single in the United States? What is this secret?' I said, 'Maybe it is because we see things in a different way. We explain things differently, and we go very deep inside with the music and the lyrics, and we have a different view. And people start liking this view because it's not the same as the views of other people."

As the song's co-writer, Rudolf Schenker played rhythm guitar on "No One Like You". While Matthias Jabs played the guitar solo. Rudolf's brother Michael Schenker did not play guitar on the Blackout album, even though he did collaborate with the band around this time. Michael was more known for playing guitar in UFO and his own band the Michael Schenker Group. The Schenker brothers did wonders for putting Germany on the map for hard rock and metal audiences around the world. And both of their bands were able to break through in America.

In the US, the Blackout album was certified gold on June 24, 1982 and platinum on March 8, 1984 by RIAA. Rolling Stone ranked the album as 73rd on their list of "The 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time" in 2017.

After losing his voice during the writing of Blackout, lead singer Klaus Meine had to undergo surgery on his vocal cords and was uncertain as to whether or not he would be able to record. Demos of the material were recorded with singer Don Dokken from Dokken, a then-unknown band from Los Angeles. However, none of those recordings are featured on the album and Dokken is only credited with backing vocals.

In Kerrang! issue 12, guitarist Rudolf Schenker said that he could not choose between his guitar solos on "China White" so the US and European releases differed in this detail.

A self-portrait of artist Gottfried Helnwein is featured on the cover of the Blackout album. Schenker portrays this character in the "No One Like You" music video.
